Confirm a provider is who they say they are

Look up any doctor, therapist, or practice in the federal registry to confirm their National Provider Identifier, the specialty they registered under, and the practice address on file.

What this does and does not tell you. The NPI registry confirms that a provider is registered and what specialty they listed. It says nothing about quality of care, whether they are still practising, whether they are taking new patients, or whether they accept your parent's insurance. For those, call the office. A specialty here is self reported at registration.

Also worth checking: what FDA has on record for each medication on their list, and the inspection record for a nursing home your family is weighing.

Data: the NPPES National Provider Identifier registry, served through the shared GoCheckMy data service. We report what the registry contains and never rate or evaluate a provider.
